![]() As a collector, I’d want that matching frame and slide at a minimum. If everything is “correct” that pistol would be at a premium to one that has some mixed parts. to see if it conformed to a pistol made in 1942 as the frame serial had. I could also look at things like the hammer size/shape, trigger, barrel, etc. Meanwhile if it did have a Colt slide, I could remove the firing pin stop and see if the slide had the same serial as the frame. For example, if I wanted a WWII issued Colt and came across a 1942 built “Colt” with a slide made by any other manufacturer, I’d immediately know this pistol was not in the original configuration. I am not an expert on M1s but have come to know a lot about Colt M1911s and believe for the purposes of his question, the similarities are there. He is trying to ensure the rifle is in the same configuration as when it was built. ![]() On behalf of the OP, I will say that I find most of these answers unsatisfactory. ![]()
